Create an interview guide as a template for repeated use

💡Why should I learn this? Saving an interview guide as a template can make your interview process more efficient. Instead of re-creating a list of questions every time you set up an interview round for a position, a template allows you to import a list of questions you have used before in a few clicks. You can also share your templates with others and use others' templates that have been shared in your workspace.

Learn by watching this video or reading the instructions below.

Create a new template

Interview templates are created in the Template Library. Access the Template Library via the Templates tab in the Navigation panel on the left side of your screen. In the Template Library:

  • Click the Create new template button in the right corner of the screen

This will present you with two options to create your template:

  1. Create a new template from your recent interviews in Hireguide
  2. Create a template from scratch
  • Select your desired option, and click Next

Template Settings

When you create a new template, you are prompted to fill out the fields with template information and specify the template’s sharing settings. The following are field descriptions:

Name Interview: Your template will be stored under this name.

Role: Indicate whether the template is for a specific role (e.g., Recruiter) or whether it is relevant for any role (e.g., a standard screening interview or culture interview).

Author: Template authors are the only users that have permission to modify the content in this specific template. If you would like to allow another Hireguide user to modify the content in your template, add their name here.

Sharing: When you share a template with your workspace, any member of your workspace can use your template for their interviews. If you choose not to share it, it will only appear in the template library of the template author(s).

Publish to question library: This refers to the individual questions in your interview template. If you would like other users in your workspace to be able to see and use your individual questions when they’re creating their own templates, specify here with ‘yes.’

Description (optional): You can write a description of the template (e.g., your philosophy on how to use it or ask questions). You could also add a link to a relevant job description here.

Select skills and questions for a template

When you’ve finished specifying the template settings, you’ll land on Hireguide’s skills chooser and then the questions page. Select which skills you’d like to assess in the template, and then browse and add desired questions to your template.

Find saved templates

All interview templates are stored in your templates library which is organized by different carousels. The following are descriptions of each carousel:

Community Templates: Templates created by the Hireguide team and other subject matter experts that have been published for all of Hireguide’s users to access.

My Recent Interviews: Interview guides that you created for a specific position and were used recently in an interview.

My Templates: All templates you are the author of.

Workspace Templates: All templates that have been created by other members of your workspace and published to workspace’s template library.

Product Tip

🪄 If you create a template and share it to your workspace library, it will still appear in th ‘My Templates’ carousel for you, since you are the author of the template. For other workspace users, your template will appear in their ‘Workspace Templates’ carousel.
