Score a candidate after an interview is completed
💡Why should I learn this? Scoring candidates is a best practice in structured interviewing. Hireguide guides you to score candidates based on their responses to your interview questions. By scoring candidates’ responses, you’re scoring the skills each question assess which then automatically populates a scorecard for that candidate.

Access a candidate’s transcript page
After you complete an interview, Hireguide will automatically bring you to the transcript page. You can also access a candidate’s transcript from the position page (shown here).
Once a candidate has been interviewed, you will see a ‘Score Transcript’ call to action in their interview row.
- Click Score Transcript to open and score.
Navigate the scoring page
The scoring page is organized into the following 3 sections:
- The audio and video recording: If you have audio or audio+video recording turned on in your workspace, the top section of the scoring page contains the record of the recording. You will see the video on the left have side of the screen and the audio bar to the right of it. You can interact with either recording directly here.
- The assessment summary: Below the recording files, the left-hand side of the scoring page contains the skill scores and summary questions that capture the outcome of the interview (see screenshot below). As you score your interview questions in the next section, the skill scores will automatically populate themselves. As such, you don't need to score these directly. When you're done scoring questions, simply complete the fields below and submit your feedback.
- The Questions & Notes section: To the right of the Assessment Summary is the question scoring and notes section. There are 3 different views in this section that are presented by the icons in the panel on the right side of the screen (see screenshot below). The first icon is the page that allows you to record general notes. If you have Recruiter permissions, this is also where the AI-Generated Topic Notes are stored.
The second icon is the Questions section. In this section, you can choose to view all questions that were asked chronologically, or you can choose to view the questions you planned in your interview guide first. Select your view with the the dropdown menu in the top left of this section.
The third icon is the full transcript. Here you can view the whole conversation verbatim if you transcribed the interview.
Score questions, complete feedback, and submit scores
Score questions
To score questions, go to the Questions tab in the Question & Notes section (see screenshot above). For each question,
- Read or re-play a response if desired
- Rate the candidate’s skill by selecting a number between 1 and 5
Scoring questions will automatically populate skill scores in the Assessment Summary section of this page. This is how you auto-generate a candidate’s scorecard.
Record interview outcome
Before you can submit your scores, you need to complete the feedback questions in the Assessment Summary section. Simply select the desired response to each question from its dropdown menu.
Submit feedback
In the top right corner of the transcript page:
- Click Submit Scores to save your feedback
